Water rotation in two hemispheres and on the Equator

We have heard the theory: water going down the drain spins in different directions depending on which hemisphere you're in. But what if you are at the Equator and then move a few meters towards the Southern hemisphere, then move back towards the Northern hemisphere and try the same thing?
